Minecraft Ghast Craft Tutorial

Hello,

My youngest is stuck on the game, Minecraft. He lives and breathes Minecraft! He is always wanting me to make him Minecraft character crafts. We love the papercrafts of all different kinds. Especially, Minecraft paper crafts. We found a great website that we find most of the characters www.pixelpapercraft.com I highly suggest you check this site out!

My son and I finished making a small little ghast character and he saw a small little box in my craft box and thought it would make a perfect ghost and so our journey began.....

Well, I hope you enjoy this tutorial.

Supplies

I've taken pictures of most of the supplies you will need for this. You can substitute the paint for markers of any kind. Paint is what we had on hand. The squares on the ghast's face was hard to paint for my son and a marker would have been easier and looked better.

wood glue or super glue, acrylic paint (white, red, grey, black)

a wood cutter, square dowels, 2 different size paint brushes

The box is 4in x 4in x 4in

Paint several coats of white onto the box after you have glued the ends or taped the ends together. Then let the paint dry.

Next, cut your square dowels to the desired size. The quantity of dowels you cut depend on how many tentacles you want on your ghast. I think the ghast has 3 rows of 3 within the rows. We went with 4.

After you cut the dowels, you need to paint them white and let them dry.

Make sure your cutting tool is at a 90 degree or if you don't have one of these, just make sure to cut it straight.

Make two different sizes. The ghast's tentacles are two different sizes.

Once everything is dry, paint a black square on the bottom of the ghast. Then cut holes with a blade or scapel where  you want the square dowels to be placed. I took a square dowel and pushed slightly to make an indention on the box and then used that as a reference on where to cut the holes.

make sure the dowels are slanted towards the back as if he is flying.

Put all of the dowels in the holes.

Next, it is time for painting the face. I suggest drawing lightly with a pencil the face and where you will paint, or even make your own stencil. We didn't think of doing that until it was too late. However, he was extremely happy with it and that is what matters.

I used a combination of pictures on google and the little ghast we made out of paper on the website I mentioned above. The ghast has two different facial expressions. Spencer wanted the one where he is spitting fire balls.

Here are our paper ghasts we made and used as a reference......

Here is the finished ghast. Like I said before, I think it is best to use a stencil or map out the squares ahead of time if you are going to perfection. This was just something that he and I did together and we were not worried about being perfect for the first one. Our papercrafts have improved over time though. :)
I hope you enjoy this craft! We sure did!

Free Minecraft Chore Chart & Award System with Printables

Hello, When it comes to chores in our house, it becomes a CHORE to get them to do chores-pun intended! They would rather play Minecraft all day long or just play all day long! Not only do they NOT want to do chores but they also think they should bet a toy everyday and in-between that comes candy every time we walk into the store. I had to figure out a system to get them to do their chores and make it a bit fun too. They need to learn responsibility in this world because you have to work for what you want. Yesterday, my 10 year old says, "mom, can I have this new star wars lego toy? It only costs $99." I said, "uh, no but you can save your chore money and buy it that way." He says to me-just as serious as he could be, "all you got to do is go to the bank and take it out or write a check and get money anytime you want." um.....yeah.....it doesn't work that way. The bank does not just give you money, you have to earn it and then put it in there....

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare Papercraft

Plants vs Zombies Papercraft (Gargantuar) Hello all! I wanted to share a paper craft that I made with my oldest son for his 11th birthday last weekend. He is so sweet, he said that all he wanted for his birthday was a paper craft of his favorite character from PVZ Garden Warfare, Gargantuar.  He and I searched and searched and found a fantastic designer that designs paper crafts of all kinds. Visit his deviantart site HERE . His name is Jeff and his Deviantart name is Jepi12. Not only are his designs the best I have seen but he is absolutely wonderful to work with. He responds to messages quickly and really helped to make my son's birthday the best it could be. You have got to check out his designs. He has a design for everyone! Here is the design of Gargantuar that we did and then I will show you our finished project. My boys and I made the paper craft together. Here is a picture of the Gargantuar. Click on the picture and it will take you to Jeff's site. ...

Minecraft Sword Tutorial Using Wooden Blocks

The boys LOVE Minecraft and have gotten me hooked on it too! Here is a tutorial that my boys and I did together and it was so easy! I got the idea off of youtube from username, "Ihascupquake" She does a bigger version of the sword and I changed a couple of things. I also do mine a little different than she does her sword as far as color, size, etc. I've got many more tutorials of Minecraft goodies. Minecraft bingo, v-day cards, and many more that I want to share with you. This sword is made using 1/2 in wooden blocks that are painted and then glued together. The tutorial on youtube was made using 1 inch blocks I believe. I wanted to make sure they would like it and it didn't take as long as it did when we did the 1 inch blocks. Plus, it was a perfect size that the boys could choose if they wanted it hung on the wall or some other way. I have to say that sometimes our crafts that we make always end up with me making the rest of it while the kiddos go play but t...
