Details, Details, Details...

Hello, to all (never mind, I don't have any followers :) ) I am so excited that I finally have a blog and I am hoping to create a successful blog that inspires people as well as me too. I am a newly miniaturist/artisan. I have always loved arts and crafts of all kinds and so I hope to incorporate all my craftiness into this blog.

I work full-time, going back to school for my masters, as well as a being married with 2 young boys, so I hope to dedicate as much time as I can in-between the busy life.

Ok, so lets get to the good stuff......fairies and miniatures! I have always loved making miniatures for my dollhouse and for about a year now I have been sculpting OOAK dolls (mostly fairies) out of polymer clay. My favorite part about all of it is attempting to make as much as I can myself. It is so rewarding to make things yourself (as well as easy on the pocket book too!) :) Here is a christmas fairy doll that I am almost finished with (trust me, I know she has a ton of imperfections because I am no where near professional) I just love creating them. I have a lot of issues with how I made her... I couldn't figure out how to make leg stockings that are striped with red, white, and green (plus, I am still learning to sew). I'm also still learning all of the body detail that it takes to make these dolls look real. Ok, drum rolls please..........

So like I said....I'm not the greatest at sculpting yet but I sure enjoy doing it! You can see once I got her hands wrapped around the candy cane the details disappeared and I should have paid more attention. I also need to still do her hair, wings, and glue spots on her top.

I am still trying to figure out how to apply eyelashes. I am so terrified of messing it up once I have the doll completed that I haven't tried it yet. Plus, making the eyelids thick enough for eyelashes but thin enough to look good is still a task for me. Any suggestions????

I am open for comments. I hope that whoever is taking the time to follow me, that they are interested and want to continue. I also appreciate anyone who takes the time to read my blog. Thank you!

Here are a couple of wings that I am making and then I will decide which ones I like best. I purchased some "Dip it fantasy film" from http://www.clayalley.com since I have never tried it before on wings or anything, I thought I would give it a try. I am used to using regular fantasy or angelina film but this sounded and looked exciting. It was my first time using it and it is definitely messy but I think I just need to get the hang of it. My brain is clouded with a ton of personal things right now that it is so hard to put my ideas that I have up there to life. I really like the fantasy film liquid and so I think I will give it another try.
Still not sure what I will do about the wings yet...

Please be aware that I haven't finished embellishing these wings yet so they are look plain still.

Thank you,

Cassie
