Minecraft Ghast Christmas Ornament Tutorial

Is everyone ready for more Minecraft? I know my family is. I've been searching the internet for days on Minecraft ornament ideas. We made a few out of perler beads and some out of craft foam. This time I came across the idea from our lovely youtube. People are using square clear ornaments from Michaels.

Well, Micheals were completely out of these ornaments and so I found a website that sells them and they are cheap. The website is called Sunshine Crafts.  This website is filled with loads of various types of crafts that would keep you browsing for hours. Click here to go the their website to purchase the ornament.

Supplies
square ornament
primer (Gesso-white or clear) (I used white Gesso) Click on link below for Gesso:
paint brush
grey acrylic paint
white acrylic paint
black acrylic paint
protectant coating (like varnish or spray, etc)

Instructions

1) Paint a coat of Gesso or primer onto the ornament (I used white Gesso). We do this because it helps the paint go on easier as well as preventing it from chipping. Let dry. See picture below...

2) Next, I mixed a tiny amount of grey with a generous amount of white paint to make a light grey just like the Ghast. Let dry…

3) Then, I drew on the Ghast's face with a pencil (very lightly). I don't have a picture of this, sorry.

4) After you draw the face on, I then drew the pixel block on the other sides of the ghast and I tried to get as accurately as possible but I wasn't too worried.

5) Then, I got all of my paint colors ready (white, black, grey). My grey was a little dark and so I put a drop of white paint and mixed together. I didn't want it to be as light as the one I used to cover the whole ghast but just slightly lighter than the original grey.

6) Then, you start painting the face on. I started with the top and worked my way down. I suggest using a small paint brush for this because it is very difficult to get perfect squares. The next one I make, I will use some square stamps that I made to get the perfect square. If it works I will post a tutorial. I think if it works, it will be much faster.

7)After you are satisfied and finished painting and it is dry, then you need to paint on the protective coating, (I used Triple Thick) You can use any protective coating (varnish is a good one too).

Instead of using the wire ornament holders that you can purchase, I just used some craft wire I had already at home and it worked perfect!

Now you should have a wonderful Minecraft Ghast Christmas Ornament! Congrats! Here is a picture of the ornament I made hanging on our tree.
